Shade shown above - Bite Beauty Arrowroot
Whew! Well friends, it's been a while. October brought one special birthday, a visit from one special friend, and some wild Texas weather. Now we're nearly in full holiday mode. I'll admit it, my Christmas tree went up last weekend! I actually had to turn our heat on here in Dallas, so putting the tree up just felt right.
With the cooler temps come the darker colors of the Fall and Winter. I love the rich colors of these seasons and nothing is better than a bold, jewel-toned lip color. Narrowing it down to just FIVE color was tough, because in reality, I have a ton of shades that I love. Here are my top five lip colors that can take you all the way to the New Year!
Let's start with the Chanel lip color on the top left. I'll admit, this was one of those, "special treat," purchases during my birthday weekend. My friend, Karen chose this color for me at the original Neiman Marcus in downtown Dallas. It's a super lightweight, coral red shade that truly can be a great holiday color or even a great summer color paired with a tan!
Next up is probably my favorite super dark color in my collection. It's a deep, matte plum from MAC. It's a bold color so you can keep the rest of your makeup neutral to let this color stand out! Unfortunately, this exact shade from MAC is discontinued, but the link below is a great dupe!
I've been so into matte lip colors and true lipsticks lately, that the next shade was a step outside my comfort zone. I've been searching for the perfect orange-hue for fall. A few weeks ago I stopped in Sephora to find that a good portion of their Bite Beauty lipsticks were 50% off! I picked up the shade Arrowroot. The Bite Beauty site describes the shade as an, "earthy pumpkin color."
The next shade is an oldie, but a goodie. I've owned this MAC shade forever and it's one of the very few lipstick I own that's almost gone! I love the satin finish MAC lipsticks. They are long-wearing and not over-drying. The shade above is Twig. To me, it's a great neutral and it's described as a, "pink cocoa," shade. What's great about this shade is that it looks great on everyone!
Last, but not least, is my new favorite red shade from Givenchy. Like the Chanel lip color, this shade is the perfect holiday shade or the perfect shade for summer. Not to mention, the packaging is beautiful! There's definitely a sheen to this shade, but it wears well and is actually moisturizing. The shade above is a true red called, Rogue Interdit.
Shades shown starting at the top left and moving clockwise - MAC Twig, Chanel Coraline, MAC Fashion Revival, and Givenchy Rogue Interdit.
